Arts Revelstoke launches its fall series: REVY. Live

The year 2020 will be remembered for many things. Our goal at Arts Revelstoke is that it is not remembered as a time when the music stopped. As an arts organisation we have tried to take this opportunity to be creative, to think outside the box and, most importantly, to keep the community’s spirits high by continuing to present live performance and bring people together safely.

This fall we are excited to announce we are to back in the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre and are launching our new REVY. Live season of music, theatre and more. This spacious and beautiful space is absolutely the perfect venue for hosting safe events in a time of coronavirus. Our plan is to present multiple performances for small audiences of less than 50 people, well spaced out, with at least an hour between performances. We also plan to livestream our events to audience members who don’t feel comfortable returning to live events just yet.

REVY. Live begins with legendary guitarist Oscar Lopez at 7:30pm on Friday, October 23. Oscar will be live at the Revelstoke Performing Arts Centre and livestreamed direct to Arts Revelstoke Facebook and YouTube channels. Performing as a trio you can expect intricate finger work, infectious rhythms and improvisational wit. This is the perfect kick-off for our Season of events.

In November we have invited Lucas Myers, a renowned theatre performer from Nelson BC, back to perform the infamous Revelstoke Project. This is a hilarious and quirky one-man show created back in 2016 for and about Revelstoke and features everything from sledding and life on the railway through to running the gauntlet picking up your mail in downtown Revelstoke. The Revelstoke Project will be performed twice over a weekend on Friday November 27 and Saturday November 28 and the show will also be livestreamed on the Saturday.

We even have the Circus coming to town! Circus West will perform their new festive show Circus Luminus in December. They will perform 4 shows on Saturday December 5 and the 4pm show will be livestreamed. You can expect a beautiful narrative along with circus feats including juggling, acrobatics, poi, aerial and more.

REVY. Live is a series of safe, family-friendly events. We hope you will join us either in person or from the comfort of your home. These events are designed to help bring us together and inspire joy even in a time of distancing and separation. We look forward to seeing you there!
