Arts Revelstoke launches 2021 winter series: REVY. Live exclusively online

Revelstoke, British Columbia CANADA – With so much tumult in our world right now it can be a challenge to look away from the news even for a minute. At the same time we are hearing from our audience that they miss the social events and community gatherings that makes Revelstoke such a special place.

With this in mind Arts Revelstoke has put together a winter season, REVY. Live Online, consisting of entirely online shows and movies. These shows have been selected and specially recorded for our Revelstoke audience to provide some heart-warming connections and most importantly offer a shared experience during this time of separation.

We want these shows to be as easy to access as possible so we will be streaming them, for no cost, at a set time on our Website, as well as direct to YouTube and Facebook. We have also altered our start time to 8pm to allow people to comfortably finish their supper and settle together on the couch to join us live!

We kick off our season with the bluegrass, banjo-making couple Pharis and Jason Romero. These talented musicians have won two Juno awards and were last seen in Revelstoke at a house concert. They have recorded this concert just for us and we look forward to seeing you there.

Next up, in February, we have the sweet, soulful sounds of Alex Cuba followed by the talented indigenous singer songwriter Kym Gouchie with her trio in March. Both Kym and Alex featured on the original BC wide COVID concert hosted by John Horgan early on in the pandemic.

In April we will be hosting the dance company, Ouro Collective for an imaginative virtual youth residency and showcasing their new show HAKO, which features hip hop and street dance as well as intriguing light props and objects. Also, in April we will present the wonderful Locarno, headed by vocalist Tom Landa (also of the Paperboys) whose big Latin sounds were last heard at Street Fest in 2019.

We are also excited to bring back Movies in the Mountains for our movie lovers. We have a selection of three funny, dark and moving movies: Arab Blues, Lucky Grandma and Honeyland. All have absolutely amazing reviews and won lots of awards. To attend the livestreamed movies make sure to sign up on our website and you will be sent a unique code to access the films for absolutely free, courtesy of Arts Revelstoke.

We do hope you will join us for this series of concerts, dance performances and movies. We have tried to make these shows as accessible as possible so Revelstoke can easily get together online to enjoy these special performances. We look forward to seeing you there!
