In 2022, Ricky hit the studio to record his latest album, In the Rough, at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, B.C. (the former home of legendary Mushroom Studios), in support of his debut film project Ricky in the Rough.
For the album, Ricky Diamonds brought together the first iteration of The Rhinestones, a 16-piece band with a boisterous horns section, Vancouver’s hottest string quartet – Black Dog String Quartet, solid bass lines and dramatic keys.
Rounded out by core members of the band, Petey Pentatonix on guitar and renowned percussionist Dicky Neptune. In the Rough gives homage to vintage Vegas and show tunes with big cinematic sounds and modern nostalgia.
