We created this installation as a small act of resistance disguised as an ordinary, forgotten space. Hidden inside an art piece is secret world: a dance floor with an entrance of moss, cedar, natural textures, music, light, and the feeling of stumbling upon something unexpected.
Gatherings on dance floors are a form of resistance. They create temporary spaces where people can let go, connect, move freely, and exist outside the expectations of everyday life. Dancing together is a way of remembering that we are part of something larger than ourselves. It is joy, connection, expression, and escape.
We wanted to play with the contrast between the overlooked and the extraordinary: A portable toilet to the onlooker, a magical place of gathering to the curious. The installation invites people to step through a familiar threshold and discover a hidden celebration. By bringing music, dance and connection into an unexpected space, we hope to create a moment of surprise and shared joy.
