Prayers to the Four Directions reflects balance, connection, and our relationship with all that lives—ayisiniwak (people), askîy (land), nipîy (water), and kisik (sky). In this work, I honour the four directions as sacred guides, each one holding teachings that lead us toward pimâcihowin—the act of living in a good way. As I creat this piece, I work with intention, offering quiet prayers— through each dot and layer. The process will become a ceremony of remembering, of listening, and of placing myself in the centre of the circle, held by the strength and knowledge of the four directions and the Grandfathers. The dot work in acrylic paints reflects how life is made up of small, meaningful moments. Each dot carries spirit, and together they form something whole—just as we are all connected within creation. This piece is an offering—kinanâskomitin..thank you, I am grateful to you. A moment of gratitude and a reminder to return to the teachings that are always around us. It carries a prayer for balance, for healing, and for remembering that we are never separate from the circle of life—pimâtisiwin.
