Seeking Production Manager – LUNA Sound

LUNA SOUND 2022 will kick off LUNA weekend on Friday, September 23 featuring 12 bands over 4 indoor and outdoor stages, with 1000 ticket holders. The festival location will shift to a new downtown location across four venues transformed into unique immersive art experiences. The festival is a mash-up of genres, focusing on new music including: punk rock, hip hop, blues, electro-pop and electronic. 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

LUNA Meetings – Coordinate LUNA meetings, take minutes, circulate key action items and follow-up. 

Administration – Become competent at using Festival Pro, and other event software. Keep all files, budgets and documents up to date and filed in the G-Drive. Produce a final LUNA report on the Festival.

Artist Coordination – Coordinate performers confirm contracts, artist advances, payments, accommodations, information, hospitality and follow-up.

Business/Location Coordination – Secure venues and locations for all performances, coordinate participating businesses, secure sponsorship when required. Reach out and inform all neighbouring residents about the Festival. Responsible for artist hospitality/green room organization.

Key Logistics – Produce a master electrical requirements document for the City, and ensure all licenses, permissions and street closures are in place. Work closely with head technician to form a technical festival plan and ensure necessary equipment is rented and technicians are hired. Work with the head of safety to ensure crowd safety and security including liaising with the RCMP, Ambulance service and City are involved in Festival planning. Ensure necessary supplies and extra equipment is rented, in place for the Festival and returned.

Budget Management – Manage several budgets including for Festival staff and supplies. 

Festival Promotion – Work with organizing committee and designer to create a compelling advertising and social media marketing campaign.

Production Staff Management – Hire production and bar staff for the LUNA Sound, set up a pyramid command structure integrated with safety plan for the night of the Festival.

Volunteer Coordination – Attract a wide range of volunteers, coordinate a volunteer information night, assign volunteers to projects in the lead up and tear down and ensure volunteers are fully informed and supervised.

Festival Coordination – Be responsible for festival logistics at the event, including set-up, supervision of festival staff, technicians, volunteers. Maintain overview of venues and projects, trouble shoot issues on night, coordinate and supervise clean-up.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Good written and spoken communication skills,
  • Demonstrated experience organizing events and/or project management,
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of the arts,
  • Good team player and ability to multi-task,
  • Experience delegating tasks to others/people management,
  • Flexible working pattern (is prepared to work evenings/extended hours closer to festival,)
  • Experience in marketing/social media promotions,
  • Post-secondary education preferred.

 

RENUMERATION

$25 per hour, 30 hours average per week, full time, temporary employee position

Position time period: July – September 2022
