The Paperboys, this a ward winning, critically acclaimed band serves up a heady blend of country-folk-celtic-bluegrass-rock with a traditional bit of Mexican music thrown in there for good measure. Lead singer, Tom Landa, was born in Mexico to a Canadian mother of Irish ancestry–thus accounting for at least two of his musical influences–he later moved to Canada where he founded the Paperboys in 1992.
The band’s sound has evolved a lot since the early days. It now includes a 3 piece horn section and digs deep into Tom’s Mexican heritage by adding Son Jarocho and Afro-Mexican grooves to the mix. The Paper boys are renowned for their energetic live performances and have wowed festival goers the world over. They create abuzz wherever they play and it is no wonder with Tom Landa’s richly expressive vocals backed up by a medley of whistle, flute, banjo, percussion, guitar and jarana (a small Mexican guitar.) The lively jigs and reels are sure to get you moving, so get your dancing shoes on and prepare for an exhilarating evening of entertainment.
Current Interior Health regulations permit the theatre to operate at 50% capacity.
