The Nautical Miles are an adventurous 7 piece alt-roots band from Vancouver,BC.Together, they have spent a decade crafting richly textured and emotionally complex folk music around the thoughtful lyrics of songwriter Corbin Murdoch. Their songs tell stories steeped in the natural and emotional histories of the Pacific-Northwest. Migratory mammals,extraordinary and ordinary humans, historic and urban mythology are all subjects in the narratives they spin.
Hailed as “a new kind of folk music” by Alex Varty of The Georgia Straight, the Vancouver band continues to push the boundaries of contemporary Canadian roots music. They have collaborated with visual artists, choreographers, bluegrass bands, and brass quintets—with this band you can never be sure what is going to come next, only that you don’t want to miss it!
