The Revelstoke Arts Council is excited to offer the Youth Engagement Project, oFuro
Mix of breaking, hip hop, waacking and contemporary with the most important part being the creation and Dancers will perform as the opening act for OURO’s presentation of TANGENT.
From the OURO Collective:
We are excited to bring our youth engagement project, oFuro to Revelstoke. The name, oFuro comes from traditional Japanese bath culture, where strangers become family by spending time together in a community space. In project oFuro we spend approximately one week creating a new work(s) for a community, which is then performed at a local theatre as the opening act for OURO Collective.
The first project oFuro was successfully completed in July 2017 in Tokyo, Japan with the second project held in Kumamoto, Japan in March 2018, with similar projects held in Nelson, Trail and Nanaimo, BC.
One of our goals as a collective is to continue to bring project oFuro, that is focused of youth/community engagement all over the world, bringing together aspiring dancers with professionals dancers to share the stage.
