Maritime Kitchen Party is named after a well-known tradition in Nova Scotia. A band that can come in multiple formats and get your feet tapping and your body grooving.
Maritimers love to party, but it always seems that the party winds up in the kitchen in the end. There’s always a guitar playing, or someone belting out traditional songs at the top of their lungs. MKP brings that feeling to their live performances with a collective 80+ years in the business. Led by Cape Breton’s own son, Steve Smith, with a voice that sends chills down your spine and some frenetic picking on rhythm guitar.
Backed by veteran musician tandem Shannon Sternloff on lead bass, and vocals, (Yes, lead bass!) and Trevor Wallach, puts the pep in your step with masterful drumming, percussion and vocals. (This tandem has played together for over 10 years). MKP plays everything from the Celtic fisherman songs to Newfie/NS tunes, and some fun, upbeat pop/classic rock music that is instantly recognizable with their own flair thrown in there.
